BUGGY JUKE
A few days prior to the start of the Silk Way Rally, Team Dessoude (France) presented the new generation of its racing buggy, the Juke.
The redesigned and improved Oryx buggy was fitted with new a suspension, an upgraded engine and a cabin based on Nissan Juke. According to team manager André Dessoude, this evolution was
not limited to a facelift.
“Of course, the body is 100% new. It
comes from a production model of
Nissan Juke, which gives it a very special
shape. But it is especially in the
mechanical field we operated major
changes. On the suspensions, the work done by Reiger brings big improvements, and for the braking, progress is substantial. “
These good feelings are confirmed by driver Thierry Magnaldi, who participated in the Juke’s development since the last Dakar. “After the Dakar, we had a constructive debriefing on different areas to define the best improvements on the Oryx. Today, I am pleased that all these thoughts have found expression in the right direction with the launch of the Juke, a real race car. Regarding the suspensions, from the first laps, reactions were very positive. Roll was greatly reduced and the sensations are very pleasant. The brakes and engine were also revisited and the cooling system achieves a good balance of temperatures. A 100% positive feeling, thanks to the collaboration of the team with Jean-Marc Schmit, brilliant engineer that needs no introduction!”
The redesigned racing buggy weights only 1180kg, and it is powered by the 2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, producing 280hp.
