RANGERS LIFT THE LOAD FOR CHARITY

By providing three new Ford Ranger vehicles, Ford has extended its support for the UK’s longest-running charity off-roading event for the 12th year in succession.

The Mac 4×4 UK Challenge is a three-day off-road endurance treasure hunt in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This year 69 teams took part, raising more than £80,000 and taking the total, raised over 12 years, to around £950,000.

The two double-cab and one single-cab Ford Ranger models were used by course officials in planning the event, including checking the suitability of off-road routes, and marshalling the event, which includes monitoring competitors and rescuing any stranded vehicles. The Ford Rangers are used across the 10 stages of the off-road endurance event, which includes access to land that would not normally be open to off-road vehicles.

Event founder and organiser, Selwyn Kendrick, said: “The Ford Rangers are vital to the success of the event as they enable us to get around the course, rescue stuck or broken down competitors and carry all our equipment with ease. We couldn’t do it without them, and as you’d expect, the Ford Rangers never miss a beat.” “Next year we should soar through the £1 million barrier so we’re planning an even bigger and better event,” said Selwyn.
