MITSUBISHI ASX TO BE LOCALLY ASSEMBLED

Mitsubishi today announced the ASX compact SUV will be locally assembled in Malaysia.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and its exclusive local distributor, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) contracted Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn. Bhd. to assemble the ASX. Production is slated to start in January 2014; then sale is planned to begin soon after in February.

Since its establishment in 2005, MMM steadily increased its sales volume focusing on the Triton pickup. The ASX was introduced in 2010, and now MMC is selling the latest ASX face-lifted in May and the ASX Euro with higher trim.
However, in order to further expand its market share, MMC plans to boost sales of the ASX by switching from the current Japan-made import to a built-in-Malaysia model.
